US-based Author, Dureke Empowers Youths

Nigerian students who spend fortunes for education empowerment programmes abroad, will henceforth heave a sigh of relief as a US based Nigeria author, Dr Margaret Dureke through her American based organization, Women Empowered To Achieve The impossible, WETATi, now known as ‘We’re Empowered To Achieve The impossible’(WETATi), in collaboration with the University of Lagos, holds a three day conference on youth empowerment.

Tagged “Empowering the youth in Building a Nation Through Positive Mindset, Service, Volunteerism, Mentorship, Leadership with Integrity and Entrepreneurship” the conference holding from November 12-14, will equally see students who had blazed trail as emerging leaders in different areas, bag Anne Reese Carswell scholarship to further their studies.

President of the group, Dr Margaret Dureke who spoke ahead of the conference, said the conference which attracts hundreds of people including youths and professionals from public and private sectors to the conference for tertiary institutions in Nigeria to UNILAG venue of the event, equally seeks to bring together individuals from various walks of life, gender and ethnicity to discuss topics ranging from empowerment through positive mindset to development issues and other challenges of the country.

According to the author of  short stories and several motivational books “Nigeria and its youths, women and children need this type of conference now more than ever because Nigeria is at a very crucial time in her history and mindset and attitude of the people must shift to catch up with the times.”

She also disclosed that her initiative; Margaret Speaks Academy- Center for Creative Thinking, Leadership and Business Development as well as WETATi, are successful in America, adding,”We are not contented with the successes we have attained in the United States because it is not a score keeping goal or venture, but a realistic and attainable movement that we plan to ignite world-wide, especially in Africa and other developing countries so that the next generation and the daughters and sons of destiny will begin early while in school to think and create entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities for themselves and for the countries by juxtaposing classroom and life education and becoming socially conscious and responsible citizens of their nations and the world at large”.

According to Dureke, “We are going to beam our focus on the issues of women, children and youths in leadership across a number of sectors. ”
